Neuropathy: When you can't feel your feet, your podiatrist becomes essential.

Peripheral neuropathy affects millions of Americans and is one of the leading causes of serious foot complications. Regular podiatric care is not just helpful for patients with neuropathy. It is often the reason problems are caught before they become limb-threatening.

ยง The toolkit

Protecting feet that cannot feel pain.

At Restore, neuropathy care is built around prevention and early detection. Dr. Reddy and Dr. Pokala combine comprehensive foot exams, protective footwear, advanced therapies, and wound prevention protocols to keep neuropathic feet safe from the complications that most often lead to amputation.

Comprehensive Foot Exams

Thorough neurological and vascular assessments to detect early changes before they become wounds or infections.

Custom Orthotics & Footwear

Diabetic-grade orthotics and protective footwear that redistribute pressure and eliminate friction from vulnerable areas.

Class IV Laser Therapy

Low-level laser therapy can help reduce neuropathic pain and improve circulation in affected tissue.

Wound Prevention Protocols

Personalized education and monitoring plans that reduce the risk of ulcers forming in the first place.

ยง How it works

Why neuropathy makes foot care critical.

Peripheral neuropathy damages the nerves that carry sensation from your feet. That means a blister, cut, or sore can develop and worsen for weeks without you knowing. By the time something seems wrong, infection may already be serious. Regular visits give your feet the attention they might not be able to.

01  Loss of protective sensation

Damaged sensory nerves mean that cuts, blisters, and ulcers often cause no pain, allowing them to worsen silently.

02  Reduced circulation

Neuropathy frequently occurs alongside vascular disease, slowing wound healing and increasing infection risk dramatically.

03  Skin and nail changes

Nerve damage alters sweat gland function, leading to dry, cracked skin and nail changes that create entry points for bacteria.

04  Balance and fall risk

Loss of proprioception from neuropathy increases fall risk, which can cause traumatic injuries to feet that are already vulnerable.
People with diabetes and neuropathy should be seen by a podiatrist at least every three months. What looks like a minor problem can escalate quickly without sensation to signal danger. Same-day appointments are available.
ยง The condition

What is peripheral neuropathy?

Peripheral neuropathy is nerve damage that disrupts signals between the brain and the feet. The most common cause is diabetes, affecting up to 50% of diabetic patients over time. This occurs though chemotherapy, B12 deficiency, thyroid disease, as well as autoimmune conditions. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to a burning sensation or feeling that the foot is asleep. As it progresses, sensation can disappear almost entirely, which is when undetected wounds and ulcers become the biggest risk.

ยง Finding the source

How we evaluate neuropathy

Dr. Reddy and Dr. Pokala use a combination of neurological testing and vascular assessment to measure the extent of nerve damage and identify areas at highest risk for injury.

01 ABI Testing
Measures arterial blood flow to the foot to assess circulation and its impact on healing potential.

02 Comprehensive Foot Inspection
Detailed visual and tactile exam of skin integrity, nail health, pressure points, and deformities that elevate ulcer risk.
