Foot & Ankle Fractures: Give your broken bones a break.
Foot and ankle fractures range from hairline stress fractures to complete breaks. Open fractures need emergency care right away. Getting an accurate diagnosis quickly is the most important step toward a full recovery.
ยง How it works

How fractures are treated, and why timing matters.

When a bone breaks, the surrounding tissue swells fast and healing begins within hours. Getting evaluated early lets us identify the fracture type, protect the bone before swelling gets worse, and choose the right treatment from the start. Waiting can allow bones to shift, making recovery longer and more complicated.
01  Accurate imaging first
Pain and stiffness at the back of the heel, worst after rest and with activity. Often caused by tight calf muscles or a sudden jump in activity.
02  Immobilization
Pain along the inside of the ankle and foot. A leading cause of adult flat foot if left untreated.
03  Peroneal Tendonitis
When the bone has shifted out of place, surgery may be needed to stabilize it through small incisions so it heals properly with minimal disruption to the surrounding tissue.
04  Extensor Tendonitis
Structured physical therapy after healing rebuilds strength and prevents the stiffness and weakness that often follow a fracture.
A fracture that heals out of position can cause lasting pain, arthritis, and limited movement. Early specialist care is the best investment in your long-term mobility. Same-day appointments are available.
ยง The condition
What is a foot or ankle fracture?
A fracture is a break in one or more bones of the foot or ankle. These range from a hairline crack to a complete break where the bone shifts. While some happen suddenly from a fall or twist, others build up slowly from repetitive activity, common in runners and athletes. Symptoms usually include pain, swelling, bruising, and trouble walking. Because each fracture is different, imaging and attentive care are pivotal.
ยง Finding the source
How we evaluate your fracture
Dr. Reddy and Dr. Pokala use on-site imaging and a physical exam to identify the fracture type, check bone alignment, and determine whether conservative or surgical treatment is the right path.

01 Digital X-rays
The first and most important imaging step. Confirms whether a fracture is present, where it is, and how far the bone has shifted.

02 Ultrasound
Shows real-time images of the tendons, ligaments, and soft tissue around the fracture. Helpful for finding tears or swelling that X-rays won't reveal.
03 MRI
Used to detect stress fractures not yet visible on X-ray, and to assess any ligament or cartilage damage alongside the fracture.

ยง The toolkit

Many fractures go untreated because they don't look serious.

Foot and ankle fractures aren't always obvious. These are the signs we commonly see in patients.'

A pop or crack felt at the moment of injury

Pain that worsens with weight-bearing

Swelling or bruising with no clear cause

Tenderness concentrated at one specific spot

Pain that started gradually and has been getting worse
