Bunions: It's more than just a bump.
What looks like a bump could actually be a joint out of alignment. Caught early, most patients get lasting relief through conservative care alone.
ยง How it works
Bunion care built around you.
At Restore, bunion treatment starts with the least invasive option that works. Our team combines on-site imaging, custom orthotics, and targeted injections with minimally invasive surgery for cases that need it.
Custom Orthotics
3D-scanned orthotics redistribute pressure away from the joint and slow the progression of the deformity.
Corticosteroid Injections
Targeted injections to reduce inflammation and relieve pain during flare-ups.
Footwear Guidance
Shoe recommendations that reduce friction, protect the joint, and prevent the deformity from worsening.
ยง How it works
Minimally invasive bunion surgery.
A podiatrist administers waves of ultrasound energy to the irritated area, creating controlled microtrauma. That microtrauma then acts as a catalyst, prompting your body's own regenerative processes to activate.
Walk on day one
Most patients bear weight the same day as surgery, without crutches or prolonged immobilization.
Less scarring
Small incisions mean minimal soft tissue disruption and significantly reduced visible scarring.
Faster return to life
Patients typically return to normal footwear and daily activity sooner than with traditional bunion surgery.
Fewer complications
Reduced exposure to surrounding tissue lowers infection risk and speeds overall recovery.
ยง The condition
What is a bunion?
A bunion is a bony prominence at the base of the big toe caused by a misaligned joint. As the joint shifts, the big toe angles toward the second toe, and the inner foot protrudes. Bunions can affect both adults and children. Without treatment, the deformity progresses and can lead to hammertoes, corns, calluses, and chronic pain that limits activity.
ยง How we evaluate it
On-site imaging before any recommendation
Dr. Reddy and Dr. Pokala use in-office diagnostics to measure joint deviation, assess bone structure, and identify what is driving the deformity.

01 On-Site X-rays
Measure the degree of joint misalignment and assess bone quality to determine the right treatment approach.

02 Biomechanical Assessments Identifies biomechanical factors such as flat feet or overpronation that contribute to bunion development.
03 Physical Examination

Evaluates range of motion, skin changes, adjacent toe involvement, and pain patterns to complete the diagnosis.
ยง Signs you should be seen
Bunions don't fix themselves. These signs mean it's time to come in.
Most people wait until the pain becomes unavoidable. By then, the deformity has often progressed further than it needed to. If any of these apply, an early evaluation is worth it.
A visible bump at the base of the big toe that is growing
Pain or stiffness in the big toe joint during walking or activity
Redness, swelling, or warmth around the joint
Difficulty finding shoes that fit without irritating the joint
The big toe drifting toward or overlapping the second toe
Calluses or corns forming where toes are rubbing together
